Black Cherry Vanilla Coke

It's just s'dang good. On our last tour I became addicted to beef jerky. I've never really liked it before. But somewhere in kansas, it just happened. I couldn't get enough. Soon every time we pulled into a gas station, i bolted out the car like a maniac, fumbling with my wallet to get the right amount of money out. Gotta be efficient. And so we went, with my addiction eventually evolving into unneeded stops masked with "um... i gotta... uh... pee... yeah thats it". But in reality, the only thing excreting fluid in my body was my mouth, watering at the thought of that sweet teriyaki... or would it be peppered this time? The weird thing is that as soon as we got back into california, it left me. Like a guitar center employee, it was gone after it had its way. DAMN YOU, BEEF JERKY! DAMN YOU!

Over

Well, our little tour is over and we're back home. This is a really strange feeling, as the planning and logistic-izing of said tour have consumed every day of my last couple months. We had a blast. Mike Marion is the real thing, and he and i have amazing friends. If you haven't checked out the tour videos on my myspace, do so when you get a chance. They're brought to you by the incredible Tyrone Warren. So, i think i mentioned Champ in an earlier entry. Champ is the beast of a van that was donated to our little cause by my wonderful church. We had a lot of work done, but it wasn't enough. The tour started with overheat after overheat, and so after a couple sleepless nights, other accommodations were made for our transportation and Champ was left in Phoenix. I really have no clue how he made it there to begin with. Wait actually, i remember now... slowly. Anyway, we picked him back up and drove him the 7 hours home and by the end of the trip tonight he was not happy. I can understand, he's like ... 18? But he did somehow get us back to the oc. It's good to be home. However, i am really looking forward to the next one.

This is it

This tour has been so much fun. Southern hospitality is all it's cracked up to be. We really haven't had a bad show so far. Last night we played in Hot Springs, AR, the same town from which I write this blog. We're staying in this great old hotel called the Downtowner. This place has character, let me tell you. We have been blown away by the response we've gotten so far, and at the fact that people have actually come out from myspace. Today is our first possible day off. We might have a gig in Tulsa, but i think we all just want to chill out for a bit. All my clothes smell like cigarettes.

i get it

Community. I get it. We're all we have. Last night was one of those nights i expected to be anything but encouraging. We played in this little coffee shop in Lubbock, tx. But, it turned out to be the best audience we've had so far. They were few but attentive, which is all we can ask for. So Mike and the guys and I sat on stage, with no pa system, and played our little songs and felt good. Our gear still smelled like smoke from the night before. Actually, everything in our trailer smells like smoke now. Anyway, last night was great because after the show we got a chance to hang out with some of the folks who came. It was great because we had conversations that had nothing to do with money or how many people we can draw or marketing or any of the petty crap that consumes my life. Im sitting here in a coffee shop in Denton , tx. I've never been to texas before, and i've never seen so little. Six hour drives with just about nothing in sight. It's about as far from Orange County as i've ever been.

"wireless what?"

well, hello from Albuquerque and thank God for spell check. I'm on the road right now with my good friend and amazing songwriter Mike Marion. So far the trip has been... interesting. Our beloved van (we named him Champ) is currently sitting in Scottsdale, AZ. He just didn't have the rest of the tour in him. But, thanks to some very generous people, and uhaul, we were able to carry on. And so here i am, sitting in starbucks, using the only wireless internet I could find. Last night was great. We played at a place called "sigs" and had the kind of fun you have when you're 14 in your first band. Good times. And in about 5 minutes were off to Lubbock, Texas. Okay, gotta go, but keep checking back!
