I Still Love You New York
Just got back from an amazing trip to New York. If you know me you know that manhattan in just about my favorite place on the earth. I love everything about it. If the city were a sponge, we spent our time there squeezing as hard as we could. The trip was in honor of Kristi's parents celebrating 30 years of marriage. And I am so thankful to have been included by them on this trip. Is was just a great time, fun, exciting, and more than anything, it made me proud of our country. Not really sure why. I've been there a few times and never really realized how central a role the city has played in forming the character of our nation. It was my second time seeing ground zero. If you've not seen it, you should. Anger and sadness flooded over me again as I realized how real evil is in our world. I think ground zero is a good place to go if you're struggling over whether or not absolute truth exists. Also saw the new(er?) mac store, which was awesome. Too much good stuff. Hope to see y'all soon at a show!

c'on now
i just want to get down. That's all i've ever wanted, from the time i was a kid. And i don't know if I ever have. I don't know if I've ever spent enough time doing the things I need to do in order to get down. Most of you have no clue what I'm talking about. maybe i don't either. But that's all I think i'll ever want. And it's what i'm going to do. It's so easy to get caught up in all the things i get caught up in. But i know that when i walk into a club all I want to see is a guy get onstage and get down. That's all. I don't care about his clothes, because they will become cool the minute he takes control. So i've had this philosophy for like years now... and I don't know that i've ever put it into practice. There are those nights though... where it does happen. And i become 17 again, so excited. Those are the nights i live for and can't figure out. I wish i could quantify them. Tell you exactly what makes them go so well. More than likely though, part of the reason for their going so well is the fact that I, in fact, have no idea when they're going to happen. But I can work harder than I have been. That is something that I can quantify.

Intensly laid back
It's funny, i'm a really laid back. I'm cool with most things. And there's not a lot that I care about (see previous journal entry). And it's that paradigm that I must maintain in my music career. Which is not to say I'm to be lazy. Because I'm not, and I never want to be. Left to my own devices i may or may not be. The funny thing is that I get out there every day and intensely inform everyone of how laid back I really am. HEY EVERYBODY!!! LOOK HOW LAID BACK I AM!!! Vanguard was fun yesterday. Corey took some pictures beforehand.

"Hey Jerry, hey Chris! What 'cha doin?" "Hey Corey, we're just kickin' back!"

Someone stole Dru's puppy before the show.

That scarf was like $3 at old navy.

Taylor GS series... egnater amplification...
And finally, let me express my deepest gratitude to Eisley for their existence. I highly recommend "Room Noises", more specifically the song "Trolly Wood". So good, so young again.

I just don't buy it
There's so much that I just don't buy. I'm watching Conan right now and the guy from Death Cab for Cutie is playing by himself. And I don't buy a word he's singing. I don't buy most of what most pastors say either. I believe Todd Chapman. I hate using the word "pastor" when referring to him.

Is this the part where it's supposed to be good?
Are we going to look back at our myspace pictures in 15 years and say "man, those were the days!" Because if we are, i've got a lot of stuff I need to do. Like tomorrow!

Smart
What is that anyway? I know so many people who are brilliant. Some of them with PhD's and D.M.A's. And they've lost their ability to reason. And I understand. When I was in college, I got really into atonal music. While I can defend the theory of that music down to it's core, I'm still aware that there's a reason practically nobody listens to it. To most people, it just doesn't sound good. So it is with politics these days.
