New
Most of you probably know that a year and a half a go I started a company called Savannah Music. Big picture, savannah will do lots of things. Song-writing, production, interpretive dance, you know, all my passions. But what savannah is best at, at least so far, is music education. Since september of '06, I've been contracting music teachers to teach lessons in the homes of our clients. In a word, it's been awesome. I wasn't expecting to love doing this as much as I do.
About a year ago, the dream of opening up an actual studio location came into being, and I'm proud to say that this dream is being realized. In september I signed a lease for a retail space in Yorba Linda. Construction is almost complete, and we're having our grand opening on March 15th! So, here's a brief pictorial of the progress so far:
The very beginning. This used to be a finance office for a church.
Then Moses and I... were awesome
Then the actual pros came... when they finished laughing at Moses and I, they did this:
Framing began...
Then insulation went in, Kristi and I became an aunt and uncle!, and drywall went in
Finally, the signs went in, and yesterday painting began. Here's a little video of the progress as of today. (I feel like I'm telling you about my child... I guess in a way I am!)
So, we're having a big grand opening even on March 15th, from noon-4. There will be live music, refreshments, and consultations will be given to those interested in lessons.
One of the investors in the company is Hugh Hewitt, who has really been amazing throughout this process. He'll be there at the grand opening as well, to sign books, take pictures, and be himself.
If you or someone you know is interested in taking lessons, don't hesitate to contact us! Here's all our contact information:

Life
Life when you're young is a strange thing. Because the decisions you make in your twenties almost always set up the rest of your life. But how can a stupid kid truly understand the ramifications of these decisions? That's the funny part. And by "funny" I mean "usually not funny at all". I am glad that God brought Kristi into my life. Without her, I really don't know where I'd be. That's where this rant started. I've experienced joy in a way I'd previously never conceived of because of Kristi.

The Truth About Social Security. Or, For Those Of You Wanting Socialized Medicine
Do you have a job? Do you ever look at your paystubs when you get paid? If you do, you'll see that a large chunk of the money you've earned has been deducted from your check. About 15% has gone to social security and medicare. The majority, about 12% has gone to social security, with the idea being that we get that money back upon retirement. HA! Let's do some math.
The average income in America today is $40,000 per year. Again, 15% of this is paid into a socialistic program. But let's just say that the average American had the option to take 2% of that 15% and invest it into mutual funds, from age 20 to retirement at age 70. If this was possible, the average American would have $2,600,000.00 when they retired. $2.6 million dollars. And this is for a person who never even got a raise during their entire career! This means that the retired person could live on over $10,000 per month, $130,000 per year, and still accumulate more wealth with their investment, to leave to their kids.
Now, let's say that we had the ability to invest ALL of our social security money into the stock market. Again, from age 20-70, if we invested 12% of our income, still paying into medicare, at retirement, we would each have $15.6 million dollars!
Do you know how much money the government gives those who have retired and apply for social security? If the government were to invest the money wisely, it should be between $20,000.00 and $50,000.00 per month, right? No. They government issues checks for $1,200.00 per month. You've paid in about $300 k, and if you live long enough, you MIGHT get $100 k back
This is socialism, people. This is what happens.
Do you know how social security was billed to the country? When it was implemented? The party line was "There are poor people who can't afford to retire, and we need to take care of them". Sound familiar? Sounds a lot like this healthcare nonsense we've heard so much of lately, and will most likely have to endure in the coming years.
Here's how I see social security: The government is stealing my money. PLUS, I'm self employed, so I really get it on both ends. But that's essentially what's happening here. It's theft. And if you don't allow them to steal your money, they throw you in jail.
When will we get out there and vote these idiots out of office? When will the frustration of the people rise up and take the power back?
We'll, that's what we're trying to do with the Bureau. We're trying to start something here. No labels, no parties, just logic and knowledge. We are the only hope this county has.
Am I saying that Hillary and Obama are evil? No. Am I saying that those who want a socialized government are evil? No. I just think that they are dreadfully mislead, and that their naivety is the engine behind their thinking.

By the way, I have to give credit to my boy Dave Ramsey for opening my eyes to the actual numbers behind social security, and just how ridiculous it is. You all should check him out.

What I think
I think that the only way to get rid of pain is to feel it. Really feel it. It's almost as if pain NEEDS to be felt. As if it isn't complete until it is felt. Like it has a life of being felt, which we can spread as thin or thick as we like. I think that really feeling pain is what the courageous person does. Having said that, I am by my own standard a complete coward.
This is not abstract psycho-babble. This is real, concrete everyday life.

30 Rock
So, most of you know that I'm a HUGE fan of 30 Rock. (I mean... I like the show a lot. I didn't mean that I'm an obese man who likes the show). Anyway, I just found this GREAT website (currently in it's beta stage) that allows it's members to watch all kinds of tv shows for free, with pretty high quality. Anyway, I watched this episode yesterday, and one line has been stuck in my head ever since.
Alec Baldwin is one of the great actors of our time. As much as I can't stand the guy in the real world, his talent is amazing. So in the beginning scene of this show, listen to the way he says "that's what I want" when Tina Fey says "You want to watch me eat this steak in front of you?". Dude. The delivery of that one line is seriously amazing. Almost every line the guy says is perfectly delivered, but that one in particular. Check it:

I Wonder
I wonder if Madonna is embarrassed. Her daughter is 11. And, you know, she put out that sex book and stuff.

Hope
Hi! My name is Chris, and I like to think. Today while stopped at a red light I saw a man my age on a street corner holding a huge sign with a picture of Barack Obama, under which was one word: Hope.
Well, I have a word for him: Wuss.
Let's be grown-ups and think here. Those of you who buy into this whole "hope" thing (John Kerry's slogan in '04 was 'hope is on the way', which, besides not making logical sense as a sentence, is another good example of the democratic party's mindset) are lazy. Hope? From a party who basically says to most of the country: "Hey! We'll, like, totally give you all kinds of stuff!". From what logical foundation is this hope derived? The "we'll give you stuff" mentality has never worked, and is the reason our country is in the state it's in today.
Discipline is rough, but really wise people throughout history have all concluded that it's the best way. Without it, everything goes to crap. But the liberal mind does away with wisdom. They have a brave new world to implement, and won't pay any mind to foolish antiquated thought.
So they take away the need for discipline. They take away the need to work hard and be productive. They take away the need for... well, anything. And this evidently gives people hope. Because discipline isn't natural. But in the long run, it creates more good than anything else. But the liberal mind isn't focused on the long run. Because they think the sky is falling.
I'm sorry these thoughts are so scattered. I'm a bit exasperated.

Is it just me?
So, sometimes Kristi and I let our house get really messy. I'm talking dishes from days ago in the sink... towels in the washing machine from days ago... shoes everywhere... the thing is, I think we both like it. There's this little rebellious 4 year old in both of us that just says "NO!". That's just how we roll I guess. This never lasts long. It gets to this place and then we clean... but this moment, right now, when things are messy, makes me happy. I wonder if other married couples do this...
