AHH!
I'm assuming that when my iPod displays this, it's a bad thing:

Subtle
It's pretty subtle, the thing that has always scared the crap out of me about Barack. It's the spirit with with he explains what the role of government ought to be. If he wins, who's up for moving to Argentina? Or, like, anywhere?

Museum Tired
There's a very specific type of tired felt while walking through a museum. It doesn't usually hit you 'till floor #3, but when it does, you're taken right back to third grade. Remember? All those field trips? How about field trips, huh?! Anybody?! When you're a kid, there are few things sweeter than a field trip. One in which your mom ISN'T a chaperone, truly amazing. You wake up that morning, jubilantly praising God for his many blessings. Doesn't matter where the trip is, it's like Christmas all over again.

Hope
Hope is a powerful thing. Like, the most powerful thing. Products aren't sold. Hope is sold. Aquafina doesn't sell water. They sell hope. Hope is all politicians sell. I think this is interesting. I think it's interesting that our entire existence is built around this idea. No one is just ... happy. Everyone is striving towards something. I'm not sure if this reality is "good" or "bad". I think it just is. But, it is this reality that leads me to Christ. It is this reality that leads me to believe, somewhere deep down, that this life isn't it. And everybody knows it. We all have the "ought" in our gut. It's like all of humanity is longing for something. Longing to be content.
I love me some C.S. Lewis. I love what he had to say about this. He came to the same conclusion I have... no wait, I came to the same conclusion he did. Anyway, when talking about this longing that he observed in humanity, he came to a truly beautiful conclusion. He basically said that you can't want something that doesn't exist. We want food because we know how good it is. We want love for the same reason. Sex, community, comfort, the list goes on and on. We all want God because we all know, on some level, the joy found in his embrace. We want heaven because there is residue left inside us from before the fall. There are parts of us that haven't been eaten up by the acid of our depravity. And those parts are sobbing really really hard because they miss their dad.
